Pros

Benefits (medical, vision, 401k, etc) are all top-notch. A few people there are legitimately impressive on a technical level. You get to play with some pretty cool technology and work on big production systems. There's a Wegman's nearby. Whenever a Zenimax Media studio puts out a game, you get a free copy.

Cons

Office moved to new location, and they took away most of the perks to put us in a cube farm (actually it wasn't even cubes, just open floor plan). Management often has no idea what the organization is doing, and you'll get inconsistent answers depending on who you ask. Bad employees are seldom removed, and good ones often toil in obscurity. The work isn't interesting or meaningful most of the time, no one respects deadlines, and there's a general sense of playing at being a company, with very few people actually doing any real work. Employees do not appear to be valued at all. Single biggest complaint was that when I put in my resignation and two weeks notice, I was told that they accepted the former, but rejected the latter, and I was asked to leave immediately, with no severance. I would HIGHLY recommend, if you work here, not giving them any kind of notice before you quit, since they clearly don't respect it if you do.

Pros

Zenimax has a cool catalogue of games. They have a cafe w/ dedicated staff on site. There are games to play on your downtime, Xbox One, PS4, and old generation. Close to light rail and shopping centre. Coworkers, your mileage may vary.

Cons

Zenimax suffers from rampant nepotism, the number of husbands, wives, GF's and BF's is ridiculous. You may wonder when the kool-aid will be administered. See: clique office politics and corporate stockholm syndrome. Your work doesn't matter. You'll ask for feedback from stakeholders and you'll get none cause what you're working on doesn't matter. By the way, you're expendable. Zenimax gets 1000 resumes a day, YOU ARE REPLACEABLE and this is made clear at the all hands meetings. Every all hands meeting. The pay is $13-$16 an hour in the contact center. If you are a professional used to working with equally professional peers, prepare for an adjustment. One thing I came to learn fast is that no one (leadership) really knows what's going on. If you ask organizational related questions expect ambiguous answers. 'I don't know, I'll get back to you." will never be an answer, learn to expect a line of jargon followed up with ambiguity should you ever have a question for leadership. In short, leadership is weak. If you aren't white or male at Zenimax you don't matter as much as the white males. HR isn't responsive to issues related this and diversity isn't a thing here. Good luck.

Not a good place to work

Pros

* Free snacks and drinks. * Co-workers are generally nice, though some are Asbergerish and odd. * Salaries are industry average, PTO and benefits are as well.

Cons

* Poorly run and managed. * Large corporation, no concern for employees. * Only one product, all eggs are in one basket. * Product has been poorly received in marketplace, missed target audience. * Company has had two layoffs since April 2014 game release, with more very likely to come. * Income stream was vastly overestimated, company is being propped up by other divisions in corporation, not likely to continue much longer. * Company has very poor reputation for quality control due to management's refusal to allow polish time of product, release and subsequent updates have been full of major and minor bugs, further alienating target audience.
