We’re proud to share that Onvida Health President and CEO, Dr. Robert J. Trenschel, has been recognized by Becker's Hospital Review as one of the nation’s Rural Health System Presidents and CEOs to Know for 2026. This national recognition honors leaders who are improving health care in rural communities through innovation, growth and a commitment to better patient outcomes. In his Becker’s feature, Dr. Trenschel is recognized for more than a decade of leadership driving growth and transformation across Onvida Health. His work includes significant investments in health care infrastructure, the addition of new clinical services and continued efforts to meet the needs of a rural and border community. Highlights include spearheading Arizona’s first rural regional medical school branch in partnership with the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix, growing Onvida Health’s Family and Community Medicine Residency Program and expanding care for local veterans. Onvida Health has been named one of the nation’s “Great Workplaces for Nurses 2026” by Nursegrid, a leading platform used by hundreds of thousands of nurses across the country. Nursegrid’s “Great Workplaces for Nurses” recognition highlights healthcare organizations where nurses report strong workplace cultures, including supportive leadership, collaboration among care teams, and opportunities for professional growth. The designation reflects the experiences of nurses working on the front lines and the environments where they feel empowered to provide the highest level of care. The recognition is based entirely on feedback from nurses themselves, drawing on input from tens of thousands of frontline professionals nationwide. Results are determined solely by nurse-reported perspectives on workplace culture, support, and the ability to deliver high-quality care. “To me, being a nurse is about blending clinical skills with genuine compassion to support, comfort, and advocate for those in need. It means showing up fully, even on the toughest days,” says Maria Jubera, registered nurse with Onvida Health for 13 years. “At Onvida Health there is a strong sense of teamwork, and I appreciate the organization’s focus on growth and improvement. It’s clear that Onvida is always looking for ways to enhance the care we provide.”
The Foundation of Onvida Health has proudly awarded $57,500 in scholarships to support the next generation of healthcare professionals. This year, 28 remarkable individuals are taking the next step in their journey. From recent high school graduates to working healthcare professionals advancing their careers. Among them are 14 Onvida Health employees who continue to grow, learn and lead by example. This investment reflects something we truly believe in: when we support our people, we strengthen the future of care in our community.

Dr. Trenschel’s commitment to innovative, high-quality care has already earned him national recognition, including the Baldrige Foundation Award for Leadership Excellence in 2021. Now, as he steps into this prestigious role in December 2024, he’ll be collaborating with healthcare leaders statewide to enhance policies and programs that positively impact the lives of all Arizonans. Dr. Trenschel’s new role as chairman highlights Onvida Health’s commitment to being an active voice in shaping the future of healthcare at the state level, while bringing fresh perspectives from Yuma’s dynamic community to the table.
