We are the recipients of the 2021 SHP “Superior Performer” Award! Tell me more you might say?! SHP is one of the vendors all hospices must use to collect and submit CAHPS (Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) survey data to Medicare. For 2021, we have an overall score in the top 20% on all CAHPS Hospice benchmarks. We also scored above the national average in every CAHPS Hospice quality measure. The CAHPS survey is sent out 3 months after a death and answered from the primary caregiver’s point of view. Caregivers score us on questions around timeliness, symptom management, treating people with respect & dignity, communication, emotional & spiritual support, overall satisfaction & more. Being at the top of all hospices who use SHP to collect CAHPS scores is an accomplishment that we are all proud of! It speaks volumes about our clinical teams and support staff who interact with patients and families; it reflects not just what we do, but how we do it & how people experience it. More evidence that we have the best people and provide the best care around!
Did you know that Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region hosts an annual children's grief camp? Chameleon’s Journey is an overnight grief camp for children and teens (ages 7-17) who are coping with the death of a family member or other significant person in their life. At Chameleon’s Journey, children and teens quickly learn that they are not alone in their grief. In a safe and caring environment, trained counselors guide campers along a path to the development of coping skills. Campers learn that feelings which surface during the grief process are normal - though difficult. In the midst of learning about the grief process, campers have fun, too, as they ride the zipline, canoe on the peaceful waters of Lake Wylie, play field games and get to know others with like experiences. Due to the incredibly generosity of our donors and sponsors, highlighted by the commitment of Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region to financially invest in bereavement services, we are honored to offer Chameleon's free of charge to all accepted campers.
We sailed through the weekend with great sailors, sponsors, and guests at the 22nd Lake Norman Hospice Regatta! Congratulations to our 2022 Champions, Tim Porter, Angie Matras, and Jim Archer! The 22nd annual Lake Norman Hospice Regatta celebrated the incredible work of Hospice & Palliative Care Lake Norman (HPCLN), a regional office of Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region. In 2021, it was an honor to provide over $1.1 million dollars in charity care and the Regatta is one way we raise money to do just that!
