It’s Take Your Dog to Work Day! Our offices are dog friendly, and we even have a dog park connected to our patio. It’s the perfect space for our furry coworkers to get energy out and socialize with their friends after a long day of work.
Meet our Summer 2023 Interns! Clark Associates has a record number of 142 interns and 65 of those are working specifically in WebstaurantStore departments. Our interns are in a mix of remote and in-person positions across ten departments. They represent 39 different colleges, and we’re excited to have this diverse group with us over the next few months.
We recently held our annual Derby Day event. The event involves our business partners and local community members. All proceeds from the event go to Clark Associates Charitable Foundation and are distributed to a variety of local charities and educational foundations. The first event in 2013 raised $25,000 and this year the event has grown to raise a record $1.8M. Organizations benefiting from Derby Day proceeds include those assisting children and adults with disabilities, foster care programs, and organizations for people in need. Additionally, donations will benefit emergency services and institutions expanding innovative youth education.
Happy Earth Month and early Earth Day! We recently launched a new private-label brand of sustainable, renewably sourced disposables, called New Roots. The items are commercially compostable and 90% renewable meaning they will break down in a few weeks once they are fully composted. A portion of all sales from this brand goes towards supporting the National Forest Foundation to plant new trees. This partnership will help our mission of making small everyday changes to make large impacts on the environment.
Clark Associates was named the largest foodservice equipment and supplies dealer in the nation. This is our third year in a row achieving the first-place ranking. Thank you to all the employees in the Clark Associates family of companies who made this possible!
Happy International Women’s Day! The women in all departments and levels of the company are integral to our ongoing growth and success. Thank you for all that you do and we’re grateful to have you as part of WebstaurantStore. As we wrap up our leadership series, we hope the insights have been beneficial and empowering in your career journeys and personal lives. For our last feature, we’ll highlight the women leading our Development, Business Intelligence, and IT teams. These teams maintain and enhance our website as well as manage our Helpdesk. Additionally, they create and provide company-wide reporting. These roles are crucial for our e-commerce business.
Our new warehouse in Dayton, Nevada is on schedule to start shipping later this year. The distribution center will feature technology and automation resources enabling us to be prepared for order growth. This includes pick modules that will increase picking speed, six miles of conveyor belts, and new sorting equipment. We’re excited to see the growth of this location as shipping begins!
Our biannual internal development conference, ReCode, was held last week. ReCode is a two-day event featuring live-streamed employee lectures. Over 290 employees from our Software Engineering, IT, Operations, QA, Business Analytics, and Design teams attended the sessions. As our company continues to grow, we want to prevent developers from becoming siloed and help everyone gain an overall knowledge of the different development areas. Anyone can present on topics they feel would be educational. We also use previous ReCode videos as onboarding tools for new employees to learn about the different divisions and the solutions they supply to our company. This year’s topics included overviews of our internally built applicant tracking system, IT teams, PowerBI reporting, marketing data, common database queries, and more.
Lancaster County’s annual ExtraGive event is organized by The Lancaster County Community Foundation. It’s a 24-hour community-wide celebration of giving that highlights local nonprofits. This year’s ExtraGive raised over $10M! With over 400 non-profits participating, we encourage employees to donate to causes that are important to them. To further show our support, the Clark Associates Charitable Foundation matches employee donations up to $50,000. This enabled us to donate a total of $103,043. Thank you to everyone that participated and gave extra to these deserving causes! This level of community support wouldn’t be possible without your generosity.
