A good friend of mine needed a series of surgeries, recovery time was quite long- but after his Doctor gave the go-ahead, he was allowed to return on restriction for a few days. After his complete recovery, he was eligible to work as hard as he wanted to. Another friend was having a bit of a hard time at home, I am unsure of the situation, but HR is very understanding and will make exceptions to the UPT policy for outstanding workers in times of need.
