If you can work from home they want to work from home. The policy on keeping track of employee time is to give us enough rope to hang ourselves, although nobody seems to keep track or care to bother with it.

I don't think this is an official benefit but under three different managers I've always been able to work from home when it made sense (when I didn't have critical meetings and had a reason being home was helpful either to work or family obligations). On the other hand, I often need to do work outside of work hours, but at least this flexibility during the working day provides some tradeoff.
