Only match at 3% up to a certain amount. Takes time to change plan. Other companies have much better retirement plans.

401K is only a stock purchase. If you don't sink a lot into it or you don't obtain a high position in the company it means nothing in the overall scheme of retirement.

The match was great, and options were too. Along with their pay out when you bought company stock.

Company match .50 on the dollar up to $2,500, so I put in $5,000, the company gives me $2,500 which is free money.
Downside is the 5 year vesting period because VERY, VERY few employees make it to the 5 year mark.

Matching funds were vested at only 20% per year, this is not a competitive offering.

It's pretty standard from what I've gathered. The company does provide a partial match when an employee buys stock.
