You become eligible for short term disability on the first day for an accident or injury or on the 8th day from first absence for an illness or medical condition. Coverage for months 1 through 3 of a disability is tied to your years of service. After month 3 of short term, long-term disability begins for qualified eligible employees. The premiums for LTD are 100% company paid. Should you become totally disabled while an employee of the company, this insurance policy will provide you with a monthly benefit of up to 50% of your compensation, up to a maximum after-tax amount of $8,500 per month. LTD will take effect after 90 days of total disability and may apply until the age of 65.
