Free lunch and snacks at Google save employees time and money while making it easy to eat well during a busy workday. Having healthy, high-quality food on site reduces friction around meals and encourages informal social interaction, which often leads to collaboration and idea sharing.
The downside is that it can blur work–life boundaries. Because meals are so convenient on campus, people may stay at work longer than intended, and it can unintentionally encourage skipping breaks away from the office or developing less healthy eating habits if portion control and balance aren’t managed well.

Google offers several choices for free meals, and a variety of snacks. There is a micro kitchen on every floor.
