"You are paid just over minimum wage on an hourly basis. You get a commission of 16% on every tax return you produce, but, this is only paid if the dollar volume of the tax returns you billed exceeds the salary you made during the tax season. I.E. you are paid $4000 for the ten week period in salary, you would have to produce approx. $30,000 in sales to get an $800 bonus. You should average out $75 charge per tax return and produce 400 tax returns in an 8-10 week tax period. Do your math with your supervisor before signing the contract and try and negotiate a better commission rate. Keep in mind, in order to do a lot of returns, you have to work longer than an 8 hour shift or turn and burn clients at the desk. "
