You might get reprimanded for being sick anytime you are sick (guess that depends on the unit manager though) and worked to death and exposed to sick people all day who sneeze and cough in your face, while being stressed and working 12+ hour shifts on your feet, but at least you will have accrued sick leave and get paid for being off. Be prepared to bring a doctors note if you are sick for longer than a day or two which means a wasted trip to the doctor if you have a virus that just needs rest and hydration. It's a little ironic considering we work in a healthcare field but this does not seem to be specific to Health First.

You accrue sick days with each pay period and the sick bank is separate from the PTO. Two consecutive shifts count as one absence and you're allowed 6 absences in a rolling 12 month period before being written up. Anything over 2 consecutive shifts missed must have a doctor's note.
