It changes depending on their plans for expansion. For example, any time over the past ten years if not longer, anytime the corporation was planning on broadening their reach in health care in any form, just before the launch they would have a massive layoff through out the organization based on some category. It could be based on performance, performance plus attendance, years of service, employee age and service time. They would come up with the strangest combinations and sell it to the employees who were already nervous based on the rumor mill. Each time there was a different retirement package and each area gave their employees different information. As a result, you either missed out on valuable benefits or information or you made out like crazy. It all depended on your area management.
