We get 5% ESPP which is generally pretty good, but 5% on a value stock isn't likely to beat the S&P500 over 40 years, so I invest in it for medium-term goals - like a house. Luckily I own their stock and get their dividend because IBM sacrificed my promotion to meet their dividends.
