Once was very good and varied. Now a poor shadow of programs exist with very little funding provided to pay for travel or tuition. Been a long time since IBM was considered a model for employee development. If it can't be seen through a laptop screen - you don't get it these days.

IBM used to have excellent professional development, world class. They were really one of the originators of the term "professional development." These programs have fallen off substantially in recent years. Any training IBM employees receive now is internal (read: poor and amateurish) as opposed to the top notch universities where they sent employees in the past.

If you have the bandwidth, lots of continuing education offerings available direct from IBM for free. Some job roles require continuing education as well as outside certifications. Employee availing of professional develop is part of their annual performance review.

I have never worked at a place so anti-innovation. And this is compared to placed like AIG.
IBM does not want anyone to be smarter than the biggest idiot in the room.

You are on your own in IBM for education. IBM has tons of material. You need to find it and make use of it on your time. No formal plans for employee development.
