Company Social Events

It's nice that they have social events. Like a Christmas party and one in the summer. But they used to have ALOT more and spent ALOT more!!! The women who have worked there for about 8-10 years have told me stories of how the company paid employees to go to an amusement park in Pittsburgh and their families! They actually had big bus drive everyone down and their children/spouse! All the employees had to do was pack food for potluck. The rooms now do potlucks ONLY if the manager approves. So it's just for holidays mainly. But supervisors and office staff and trainers can come in and eat YOUR food that ONLY the Communicators brought and get away with it. If you, the communicator go to another room and eat their potluck food, you would be fired on the spot! I know someone who actually got fired for that. A guy that worked there for like 3-4 years. The company gets cheaper and cheaper EVERY YEAR with their social events! The main founder of this company passed away a few years ago and his son has taken over. That's when it started getting cheaper, but they say it's the economy. For Christmas party, they always let everyone off the phones and join together in a beautiful banquet room but now half the people have to be taking calls while the other half go to the break room. And the employees bring desserts as a potluck. They give out a few $20 gift cards with drawings. Another thing they used to do is give prizes in each call center room for the holidays. I'm talking flat screen tvs, kitchen cook-ware. Some things cheap, some expensive. Plus the products we were selling on the phone we got to have samples. It had to have been $1,000 per room. And they stopped that altogether just a couple years ago. They even gave two free cars every year. You were entered in a drawing according to your attendance and how much overtime you worked. But that seemed to have stopped too. So, it's nice they do have company social events when most don't, but I can tell they are trying to do away with it.
