401K Plan

"50% match up to 8%, plus 6% on top, for a grand total of 10%. This is outstanding and I do not know of anyone who tops that. If you make $100 and max out your 401k, you're putting away $28k a year."

Short and long term disability plans are great, health insurance has high deductibles, great education assistance. No defined benifit retirement plan for new workers, but generous 401k contribution to make up for it.

Minimal company perks, Aetna health insurance is relatively high, standard 401k and vacation/time off benefits aren't bad but better opportunities elsewhere.

Best thing is really the 401K and the health and dental insurance. Employee discounts could be better.

+: Health insurance, 401k,part-time telecommuting in some cases
-: To quote the HR manager at my induction meeting on my hire date: "The benefits package just gets worse and worse". In my case, for my spouse and I, the basic benefits cost more than $500 per month.

The LM pension was discontinued in 2006 and now the last employees with a pension are losing their ability to accrue pension years of service. The health care options have been reduced from what they were pre-2010 and cost more.

There is only 1 health insurance option, and it's pretty expensive.

easy to understand and make appropriate selections; can only make selections once a year and when there is a change in the employee's status (i.e., marriage, divorce, death, birth, adoption, etc.)

Best: 50% 401K match up to 8% employee contribution + 2% annual salary contribution in lieu of pension.
Worst: Poor office environment to work in.

There really isn't a best and worst. Fairly good plan as most companies have eliminated pension plans putting the risk on the individual
