MIT grants paid sick leave to employees to guard against loss of earnings due to illness. Up to 40 hours of paid sick time per year is protected under Massachusetts law. MIT will treat the first 40 hours of paid sick leave used by the employee each year (running from the employee's anniversary date) as covered by the state law.
