They prepare you to go hands on, to de-escalate a crisis situation, CPR, and more. However, once you're on the floor, it is up to the other mental health technicians to train you how to do tasks for your particular job. Some do not train very and some train very well. Some fuss about not being paid to train a new technician. But keep in mind, we do get paid very well.

For job training. You do not get your 90 days of orientation before they throw you out and have you caring for patients are wearing multiple hats

The training that they provide is good. New grads typically get around 4-6 months depending on specialty and seasoned nurses depend on whether they are new hires to the system and what specialty they are working in.
