Sick Leave

There is flexbility to use sick time for scheduled health appointments which is very helpful.

These are accrued based on hours worked (based on my employee classification) which, I believe, is the minimum required by the state law. On the positive, I can take unpaid time off or work longer days to compensate if really needed as my manager is fairly understanding. I have not inquired about longer periods of sick leave if that ever becomes a necessity (though, if I understand correctly, FMLA leave should be an option once I meet the minimum working requirements) but I do expect my position could be held short term if I had a legitimate medical need for it.

You still get paid because you are paid from a stipend but make up the hours with office hours afterward
