Pension Plan

Very few places outside the government have pension plans any more so there is one at all is pretty good.

1% per years of service based on top 3 salary years

It pays 1% x number of years in service x highest-3 salary average, as a monthly total for pension. There aren't many pension plans around these days, so this is significant. The bad thing is, one has to work 30 years to get it, or work less years and get a reduced benefit, depending on how one is released ("voluntary early retirement authority"). Other professions offer a 1.7% multiplier, for those who work less years (like law enforce,ent). Either way, one will have to work until Social Security benefits arrive (62-67), unless the individual has saved a lot.

Very good pension plan, FERS provides many options for senior employees that want to retire early

the retirement plan is 1/3 social security, 1/3 pension, and 1/3 401K (TSP)

The didn't have a pension plan for active duty employees.
