Sick Leave

Sick pay accrues slowly at PCC, but that is because they are far more generous with vacation pay. At other grocery retailers, people have to call in sick to get their paid time off. Because we get so much vacation at PCC, we can reserve sick pay for times when we are truly sick--which is not as often at other retailers because of good work-life balance practices, and emphasis on holistic, organic health, and an insistence that employees actually NOT come to work when they are sick (so they don't make everyone else sick). I have accrued about 60 hours of sick pay this year and only used 30 hours.
