Great company, great employees. Most managers care about the employees and put them above anything else. Training is great and pay is decent.

The best thing about Publix was earning stock in a privately owned company. The result was stable growth rather than the stock price being subject to the fickle whims of the stock market. Unfortunately, tuition assistance benefits were only $2000 per year.

Working in Publix is very stressed and paid very poor. You will very often work for 10 hours with no breaks if its the busy time of the year (in my case whole summer). On the other hand, politics of "premier customer service" is very true. Customer is always right and the top management provides this kind of service. If you are a clerk (like I was), you are paid per hour (usually between 7.50 to14, it depends of place), while management have fixed yearly income, but on the other hand they had to work at least 50 hours per week. Bottom line, if you are hardworking you will be promoted. It depends are you ready for that kind of career.

Buying stock from Publix would probably be the best thing to do if you were to ever work for them.
