Their insurance was a high-deductible plan. They used to have lower deductibles ($500) but they took those away. HSA/FSA plans were available.

Company contribution to HDHP is one of the highest in the area. Other traditional plans offered as well. Great prescription plans as well.

Due to various situations we had to switch to PALIC health insurance. it doesn't cover most of what any other plan would and all employees are generally dissatisfied.

High deductibles lead to a lot of out of pocket costs which even with a maxed out FSA can't be fully paid for. It's not a great program for those with special needs children or those who have chronic illness.

Health insurance plan is a generic ppo plan. tiered and offer minimum required coverage. Like many employers today, they focus on offering plans for single kids out of college that don't worry about healthcare coverage as much and not for people with families.

The out of pocket expense is very high, you are charged for everything.
