Job Training

Rev expects that you can type what you hear, and adhere to their Style Guide either Transcription, Caption, Subtitles, or Translation. It's really simple to make money and you can do so quickly and easily from home, in your PJs, between getting up to do laundry or chase the kids around. if you can type what you hear, accurately, then it's a really sweet gig. If like my oldest boy, you cannot hear the words coming out of my mouth, then this might not be the best job for you. This job requires that you are a self-started, motivated, and willing to problem solve situations you have arise in real life to complete work. Newbies start on harder projects. Veterans get first pick. There's training files for the newbies that are very decent and roll into the queue when regular work is not available. This is not a 9-5 job that you go work for somebody at an hourly wage and take lunch breaks.

You are trained but few graders that review your work follow the standard that you are taught. There is no other way to say it. You will be marked off and potentially fired no matter how accurate you are.

You get about 3 training files to start from, then you can get into transcribing. If you're still a beginner you get Kira Bachman files which are usually under 5 minutes long, which is about $1.20. You get paid for all training files

They have a style guide that you depend on. That's your training.

They teach you how to use the captioning service online, and you will do several training rounds before doing one for real.

They give you some training with feedback on every file you submit before you are a full time Revver. You must have good metrics by the time the training ends or they delete your account. Very harsh training.

They provide you all the tools you need to be successful.
