I left the company over a year ago. The matching with the 401k was industry standard. I didn't do anything with the 401k, since I wasn't asked to, and was still deciding what to do with it. Since my new job has a pension plan, I decided to finally just get the money out with penalty so I didn't have to track anything. This is a major hassle. First you have to call T Rowe Price to get information- their online portal won't handle this. Then you have to fill out forms. Since I haven't worked at SGS for over a year and live about an hour away, I just sent in the forms. Nope- apparently (according to the T Rowe people I spoke with- and I ended up having to speak with a lot over this process), SGS has an overly restrictive policy where their benefits people have to sign off on anything. So I get an email from T Rowe (since SGS does not list emails anywhere on their website, and surprise, one of the emails bounced back as incorrect since I had to write the email down while I was on the phone), and ask for them to fill out their portion and send it to me. Wrong again- I have to fill out my portion, send it to them (this is now two stamps to deal with this), and they will fill out and send to the T Rowe people. Only in their email, they didn't give me an address. I don't know if the benefits person is out the same office I worked at, since I don't recognize their name. So it could be one of several- plus, it would be nice to know room/suite/attn/ etc. Such a hassle for a bog standard benefit- should never have signed up for it, and kept my money.

Match is good, but you have to put in 6% to get a vested match. Could be a problem for younger employees with less stability.

moderate match after you commit to SGS. Return rates poor.
