This is very dependent on the territory. You learn most of the stuff on the job or on your own.

Each department has dedicated professional development fund. you just have to ask your manager for it.

STERIS offers many professional development opportunities to its employees but then never gives the opportunity to use the new skills. Internal promotions are hard to come by.

Training is there however there is no time for training.

They offer onsite university with lots of options. Managers aught to be remembered that.

They only promote people who really drink the cool aid. It doesn't matter how well you do your job they don't care unless you can play golf and really suck up.

Be prepared to wait for advancement. Will take extended period of times for career moves. This is not due to your work habits, but people staying in positions for long periods of time. 5-10yrs for career change is not unusual.
