It depends on your manager and departments. Some managers know nothing about technologies. The only thing they can do is monitoring whether you come to office or not.

Sometimes you don't have the option of working from the office if you have a flexible role since there wont be any space in the office area you seek and you are not assigned a fixed spot due to your job title. So its sometimes a Catch-22 situation
