It was a discount, but it was only 30% on soft lines (clothes) and 10% on hard lines (tools, appliances, electronics)

For much of the time, Sears offered an employee discount for anything purchased at Sears. In the last year, with the company's financial problems, they switched to awarding you "Shop Your Way Rewards Points" to defray cost of those items, which had to be spent within 90 days or they were lost. This dissatisfied many employees.

Discount % is good, but it is given in points to their loyalty program, redeemable on a future purchase

Recently moved to a reward points only employee discount. Also discount often didn't cover higher price than competitors.

They used to have a pretty standard employee discount, like most other retail locations would have. However, this has changed in the last year or so, where they technically do have one, but now in the form of their Shop Your Way points as opposed to a straight discount at the time of the purchase. Back then, you would obtain a 5-15% discount at the register depending on the items being purchased. Now, the employee discount completely depends on the employee using their SYW member account in order to use it. The employee will receive 5-15% back in points when the transaction is completely for use in FUTURE purchases. The second catch is also that the points earned by employees must also be used within 90 days or else you do lose them.

It was actually pretty good. I think it was 10% and worked at all Sears Holding stores including K-Mart and Sears auto service centers.

There is no best part, we moved from a 15% discount to gaining 3% of a purchase's price back to use for the next purchase. Unless you buy a large appliance, theres no pint

It was OK in clothing, shoes, but horrible for electronics, tools. 20% in shoe clothing. 5% in electronics, but purchase above 500, otherwise 3%. Good thing that you got your discount in top of clearance prices so you could get really good deals
