I have seen two different employees take Unpaid leave of absences for two different reasons. One faced criminal charges and returned to work on a reduced schedule as punishment, the other on bereavement leave and the company accidentally filed them as terminated resulting in them being given a heavily reduced schedule as they worked out what to do with the employee. Leave it to say I would never risk taking an extended leave.
