You have to pay at least 10 percent of your biweekly pay which is a nice chunk.

Recently Congress approved a sweeping change to military retirement. There is now a 401k that servicemembers can join. You can put 5% of your base pay and the government will match another 5%.

TSP. Best thing about the army finance system. If you aren't contributing now you need to be. Tax deferred and you can rotate through funds. It's incredible.

this is part of the new blended retirement plan of the military just becareful of how you apply your money and be aware of the pluses and minuses.
