Called 'FEGLI." It's just OK. Based on Age and income level. You can get 1-5X annual salary, plus family coverage for rather small amounts. Not being underwritten, anyone can get it- which is good if you are morbidly obese, smoke, or have a pre-existing condition, but bad because if you are otherwise healthy, you pay too much for your premiums. Extra automatic benefit for those under 35 (which phases out as you approach 40). Premiums increase with your salary and every year as you age. A better option is WAEPA. It is underwritten so you need to take a physical exam but the coverage limits are better as are the premiums which go up ever 5 year block.
This agency does offer a $17,000.00 or $35,000.00 death benefit through SAMBA for final expenses outside of FEGLI, payable without a death certificate within 24 hours of death. Premium is only a few dollar a paycheck- well worth it.
