Companies like Verizon don't have retirement plans any more. They will match up to 6% into your 401K, assuming you didn't have to take a loan out from your 401K because they screwed you over on your commissions when they change things. Your benefits, like half off phone service, were taken away. It's now better for you if you get a part-time job at Home Depot to get the employee discount, which is better than the retiree discount. Expect to be worked to the bone by the time they let you go, assuming you didn't get pushed out before that.
