Very good overall.
It does not include dental insurance however.

Pretty much guaranteed the lowest rates around since they negotiate for statewide benefits and you are either part of the State plan or the Faculty plan. It's a great place to work and the benefits are pretty outstanding

They do not provide dental insurance. As a result I ended up paying a lot for the dental care.

Fantastic health insurance package! We've had two children and had to pay basically nothing (beyond premiums) from finding out to two years old. There are optional plans for additional dental and vision coverage (and a few others), but unless you have a large family, all who are wearing glasses, the additional premium costs vs just paying yourself is about the same anyways.

Virginia Tech has a health center, which is sufficient for all the minor ailments.

we use aetna insurance, which is around 2200$ a year. so for a GRA, you will pay 10% of it, which is about 220$ a year. and the insurance year start with augest and ends with July

It covers almost everything at a very affordable rate. Unfortunately the pay is so low after I cover the premium for my insurance I make less than the part timers
