Medical insurance is OK - the best thing is about coverage for critical things and serious illness. For minor things is not so effective but I think Walmart focuses on what matters most.

2015 rates are out of control, and coverage dropped from 80/20 to 75/25.

The basic plan has a $5000 deductible and you will likely only make $10k to $14k a year part time anyway

The worst thing is, of course, the cost. However, it is no different, and in fact better than most private businesses.

It is horrible! It barely covers anything! I went to the ER in June of this year and it hardly covered anything.
Only available to fulltime employees.

The deductible and out of pocket maximum is very high (for employee and spouse $5,500 and $10,000 respectively). In addition, the percentage paid by the plan once the deductible is met but before the out of pocket maximum is met was recently reduced from 80% to 75%. However the monthly costs are reasonable as the plans are subsidized by the company. There is also a Centers of Excellence benefit where certain heart and spine surgeries and knee/hip replacements are covered at 100% at one of four top-tier medical facilities. A travel allowance is also provided for the employee and a companion.

Awful insurance! Normally covers hardly anything and must maintain a car number if hours to retain it
