Wayfair's health coverage for individuals is a basic plan "70%-ish coverage" for which you pay, as an individual, about $80-$100 every two weeks. There's a $1,500 annual deductible. The company contributes up to $750 of that deductible, which is good, but given their low wages, it would be great if they could find a way to cover more. One very important note about health coverage is this: AT WAYFAIR, IF YOU GET SICK, YOU CAN EASILY LOSE YOUR JOB AND YOUR HEALTH COVERAGE WITH IT. Here's how it works: Wayfair counts every day you're sick as a SEPARATE instance of unplanned absence. (Unplanned absence is a violation of their attendance policy.) After three "instances" (days), you receive a final warning, and on the fourth instance (day), you're fired. During new-hire orientation, they tell you that you can use your PTO time to cover sick days, but that's not true in reality, because Wayfair only allows a certain number of people to use PTO on any given day. It's so hard to get PTO at Wayfair that people who want vacation time reserve most of it well in advance, so the odds are very high that there will be no PTO available on the day you get sick, even if you are "entitled" to PTO days that you have earned. The bottom line is, if you get really sick (like a bad case of the flu) and you miss more than 3 days of work, Wayfair will fire you, and you will lose your health coverage. So if health coverage is important to you, buy private, portable health coverage somewhere else and decline Wayfair's coverage. That way, if you get sick, you may lose your job, but you will still have your health insurance.
