Would you join VML or IPG in current climate?
Tell me if this is normal/okay: I’m in a Sr AD role and wrote a concept for us to shoot, promoting an experience that was my idea. It was well thought out and I wrote a script. The day of the shoot, my CD decided to direct the talent with my script. I was on set thinking “wtf” and wasn’t sure if that was normal or not. The worst part is that they totally tanked with the direction and we ended up scraping the footage and the idea. I feel like if I wrote it, I should have directed. Thoughts?
Does anyone else feel like going to cannes is just tacky and in poor taste now? Particularly this year?
While Cannes has always been self indulgent it’s never felt more irrelevant.99% of the work that wins does absolutely nothing to build brands or leave a lasting impression on consumers. It feels like a contest celebrating how well agencies were able to trick their agencies into buying something that will only be seen on LinkedIn and the agency reel.
I got invited to Cannes by a brand (as a content creator) and took off work to go…I didn’t hang out with anyone from work while I was there and they’re being weird about it.
Today I complete 6 months at my new brand-side role and tbh I'm so so disappointed. I'm extremely free and bored, there's barely any work, and whatever work there is, it's absolutely garbage. I used to work on campaign ideas and scripts at agencies. Here I'm writing emailers and notifications. Is this normal? My brain is thirsty for some good work. Am I being too ungrateful because at least I have a slow-paced-okay-paying-chill job?
Good luck either way 🥴
VML i guess
From comments here, that would be a hard no to both.
Which account, which office location.
What is this
Depends which IPG or VML agency. Most of them are in a good shape
It would be ImpSci at VML or Prohealth with IPG
Wunderman Thompson brought a lot of cool people in.
