Anyone else rooting for the underdog?
For individuals who have recently landed roles at the Senior Manager, Vice President, or Director levels, what key factors have contributed to your success?
Laid off in May. Started applying and networking everyday since June 1. Submitted 35 TAILORED applications (many w referral). This “Sprint 1” yielded 6 screening interviews. Took July off so far (3 weeks) from application to focus on interview preparation. As of today, I have spectacularly been rejected from all 6 opportunities - often after the screening call. Mat myself for wasting valuable interviews. How do I get better at interviews? Already late 30s. Generally i feel lost n scared 😞
Executive Director role at JPMC or "Head of" role at Google? which to choose if chasing prestige / title?
I make 233k (typically received 20% bonus) now at Accenture as a Senior Manager. Everyone here tells me I should expect Managing Director promo within the next year or two. I got an offer from an agentic voice start up to lead their Forward Deployed Engineering team with a base of 235k, 30% target bonus, and 0.2% equity in stock options. Is it a huge career mistake to abandon the “partner track” and take this even if it may be a more risky but perhaps more interesting too?
I barely ever get recruiters reaching out to me on LinkedIn. Been at D for 8 years now. Any tips?
Yes! Sad to see them loose, they played a great game.
