      Devops Engineer Interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at 605 (New York, NY)

      Interview

I had a nice call with the HR person who said they would have a homework test. The homework test was a pretty basic setup of a web application on AWS. I took care of the task and made comments on my pull request about how to deploy my application. I stayed up until 3AM to finish this. The guy who reviewed my pull request didn't bother to get back to me and deleted my pull request. Which was rude and I realized the type of employees they have there. I contacted HR and mentioned that my code was deleted and they apologized saying that my solution was pretty basic and that it would not scale and that i copied the code. First they didn't even ask me questions about my pull request or questioned it on comments and made assumptions. The guy who reviews the code probably thinks he is too smart and this is the type of guy to avoid in interviews. Talking to a few recruiters who have pitched me this role they said that this role has been open for awhile. My guess is this person is looking for another person like himself. The least he could've done was made a comment on my pull request. I only wrote this to avoid other engineers the trouble and waste their time. It is just disrespectful for people to do these homework test and delete their code. Learn to interview

      Question 1

How to setup a web application on AWS. the only thing you get is your credentials and you have to figure out how to find the correct subnets to launch your environment and create the ec2 instance. Basic stuff nothing out of this world.
