      Content Marketing Specialist Interview

      Mar 29, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      San Jose, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at 8x8 (San Jose, CA)

      Interview

I was reached out to by a recruiter, I had a phone interview with the recruiter, then a phone interview with a manager, then a 2 hour in-person interview. Nearly three weeks after my interview, and after 2 follow-up emails, I had heard nothing from the recruiter. Not even a response email acknowledging my email. The recruiter was trying to ghost me. Unprofessional! I emailed again, and I receive an immediate response saying they went in another direction. I told her I recommend keeping open communication with applicants and to timely update them when they request updates up their status, because it leaves an impression on the applicant and it's not courteous nor professional to leave candidates wondering. The recruiter then responded saying she wasn't even 100% sure if they snagged their chosen candidate, and that the position may actually still be open. Nah, I'm good. Do your jobs and communicate professionally. There's a lot of negative reviews on here describing recruiters' behavior. I would recommend the company take a second look at their training and who they hire as recruiters. They're often the first face of the company... Not to mention the manager told me in person that the company doesn't do any sort of extra-curricular team building or corporate responsibility volunteering/activities.. not a great way to attempt to sell the job to someone..

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at 8x8 (San Jose, CA)

      Interview

Was contacted by a recruiter for a phone screen-this went well and I was invited for an in-person interview with 3 one on ones. Anytime you do one of these it's pretty grueling by the end, but it went well. Except the last women I interviewed with walked into the room already yawning and tired looking. I understand since it was the end of the day. But she continued to yawn through all my answers and it was a bit distracting for me. This interviews themselves went well, its the lack of follow up afterward that I have an issue with. They told me I would receive an answer with a week. A week went by and nothing. Waited a couple more days and reached out to the recruiter- she said the hiring managers had not even contacted her once about it. Waited again- nothing. If I didn't get the job, then fine, LET ME KNOW THAT. It took a lot of time for me to prepare, go back and forth with recruiters and go in for almost 2 hrs out of my work day to be there. Horrible showing respect for people's time.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at 8x8 (San Jose, CA) in Feb 2018

      Interview

Three interviews: Phone screen w/ marketing recruiter, 30 min. phone interview w/ hiring manager, called back for onsite in San Jose; one hour....Receptionist gave me a "goodie bag"--company-branded pen, flashlight, snacks; I wanted a *job*, not tchotchkes! Sent a thank you email to the hiring manager that day, replied early next morning that the recruiter would get back to me with "next steps, etc."...Didn't even get the "etc."--GHOSTED. No response to follow-up call/email; not exactly the courtesy I'd expect from a public company after preparing for three interviews :-(

      Question 1

Basically interested in how my current company did content marketing; didn't seem to know what he was really looking for.
