I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at A&O Shearman (London, England) in May 2016
Interview
There were 2 interviews - one HR and one partner case study. The HR interview was quite informal and the questions asked were quite standard. The partner case study was on an acquisition, and this was harder as there is a huge volume of material to look through and little time given to read everything and prepare for a short presentation. During the evaluation, the partner will raise specific issues to focus on and will often point out things missed during the presentation and question you on any recommendations made. My interviewer was receptive to me asking for clarifications and we chatted a little at the end, which was nice.

Online test followed by in person interview with partners and associates. Very long process with about a month or so between the different stages. Was quite straightforward other than that.
The interviewer was engaging but professional and his tone was detached. It lasted about 45 minutes to an hour. Prepare notes beforehand and keep making eye contact. at the end of the interview ask questions.
