The interview process is structured over one day including two sections that in total lasts about 4 hours. The first section involves an application project; your job is to evaluate a proposed merger/ acquisition between the mock-client and the target company. You receive a file containing various correspondence between the firm and the client as well as press clippings and financial statements. You then have to present your findings as an evaluation of the positive and negative aspects of both companies and the proposed merger to two of the attorneys who in turn evaluate your proposal against a set marking sheet and thereafter asks questions about elements you might have overlooked. This I found to be a very useful process as it allows the candidate to get a glimpse of what their work might entail and the question and answer session was a great learning experience as the attorneys would explain why certain elements that you might have overlooked would be significant.
After a coffee break (or in my case, a lunch organised by HR) you have a more conventional interview session with a director.
