The interview process was fast, smooth and efficient, and I appreciated the engaging discussions with everyone involved. However, I found the take-home design assignment to be less aligned with my expectations. The process consisted of multiple rounds, including meetings with HR, the Head of Product, a take-home design assignment, a detailed examination of the challenge, and a final interview with the VP.
While I valued the opportunity, I felt less enthusiastic about the take-home design assignment, specifically focused on enhancing a feature of their website. In my view, in general, requesting take-home design assignments that last days and even more related to their products may not fully align with mature industry practices in the product field. I was very interested in the position and therefore I moved forward with it nevertheless. However, in the future, I hope the company considers alternative methods for assessing candidates, such as online design challenges or comprehensive portfolio reviews, which could benefit and better resonate with their company culture.
