First round with HR, second round with managers, responded to a brief that took at least a day to finish, third round with colleagues. Then radio silence for a month, only to let me know that they will not move forward with my application due to the reason that “They felt that the approach you have with in using one tool that serves all purposes for projects weren’t quite suited to the team and vision of AKQA.” They must have confused me with a another candidate though I stated the opposite of this throughout the whole process: eg. The most important thing when leading projects is to adapt the approach (agile/traditional PM) to the situation and people. Same with the chosen tools. There’s no one size fits all, ever. Normally I would just respond “thanks for letting me know, best of good luck”, but I feel like I need to use my voice here, and maybe just maybe it could help someone else. Looking for a new job is most draining, and stressful. It’s literally a full time job. I spent approx 10 hours on responding to the brief, plus preparing for each interview etc. only to (during the meeting that was supposed to be a presentation of the brief) be met by “oh we didn’t know you responded to the brief, we will book in another meeting for this”. It’s honestly rather disrespectful to my time and effort. After this meeting I heard absolutely nothing until the last email almost a month later. There are real people behind the candidates and it would be great to be treated as such.
