I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ALDI (Ramsgate, England) in Jan 2017
Interview
I applied to a store assistant role at the Aldi in Ramsgate, Kent. To apply I had to answer questions including scenarios. You have to summarise what you know about Aldi. Then sell yourself. After completing the online application, I received an email inviting me to a group assessment. It wasn’t what I had expected at all. There were three of us and we had to briefly introduce ourselves and discussed whatever we put on our application. The manager explained that they give a Store Assistant up to 25 hour a week at £8.40ph and told us about different shift patterns. The manager also gave us background information about Aldi and its history. This lasted less than 30 minutes.
24 hours later I received another email asking me to attend a 2 hour work trial. Upon arrival, I had to do a short maths test, then I had to shadow current employees and then was left on my own to stock shelves until the two hours were up. The employees said that they wasn’t aware that they were recruiting more staff which was confusing. Then I was then asked by another manager if I would be interested in working at another local store. I said yes.
I was told that I would hear from them within 48 hours but they got back to me saying I was unsuccessful via email. The email also stated that they couldn’t give me any feedback as to why I wasn’t successful due to the high volume of applicants. A week later I popped in to get some groceries as I was in the area and one of the employees I shadowed told me that other two people who was also going for the job didn’t get it either as they are over staffed.
Then low and behold a parking ticket gets delivered to my mother’s address in London for parking in their car park for 2 hours or just over. I then had to call Aldi customer service up which was an expensive call to an 08 number. They apologised and said that they’ll try and cancel it and that they would contact me by the end of the day to keep me posted on the outcome. Two days passed then I called them back and they said it was cancelled. I didn’t receive any confirmation of this and just had to take their word for gospel.
3 weeks later I see that Aldi Ramsgate have posted another vacancy for the same position I applied for. I feel mistreated by them and took a day off (my current job) to ensure that I could be able to do the work trial to the best of my ability. I cannot comment for the other two people except to say they wasted our time but luckily 2 of us had jobs to go back to.
I was invited to a group interview where we walked around the store and toured the backroom where products are loaded and stocked. This was followed by an individual interview with the store manager.

Group interview, 26 people at the same store. 35 were invited to attend. Store tour and overview. Waited as they called us randomly for a quick 3-5 min interview. Took about 90 mins.
I applied in-person. I interviewed at ALDI (Bowling Green, OH) in Apr 2026
Interview
It was a basic one on one interview where the manager went over the basics of the job and I concurred I had experience in all of the shelve stocking and customer service aspects of the job from my time as a Produce clerk. It lasted about 10 minutes and then I was asked to leave.
