      Corporate Buying Assistant Interview

      Mar 10, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Batavia, IL
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I interviewed at ALDI (Batavia, IL)

      Interview

Had a 30 minute phone screen with a recruiter in their HR department. A couple of days later I was asked to take a skills assessment test (Word, Excel, math and reasoning, reading comprehension, and typing) in order to move forward with the process and was told to set aside 2 -3 hours to take it. I completed it in just over 2 hours. A day later I received an email from the recruiter to schedule an appointment for an in-person interview. The Directors were very pleasant at first greeting and I was directed to a conference room. I felt confident going into the interview but left feeling doubtful. The interview was very cold; no discussion about the position, asked a few "personality" and "what would you do" questions, talked briefly about my job responsibilities at my current job,... I was even surprised that they didn't offer any water. The Directors didn't show any personality at all and they were difficult to read. One took notes and the other asked the questions. The process made me feel uncomfortable and it was awkward. The interview lasted 30 minutes and I was told I would hear from someone within 24-48 hours. Just over 24 hours later I received a generic "do-not-reply" email stating I was not selected. Given the 30 minute phone screen, 2 hours of testing, and an interview, I would have at least expected a more "personal" email from HR not a computer generated email that you'd typically receive if you applied for a job online but don't fit their requirements; BEFORE you even speak to anyone.

      Interview

Phone interview, completed on-line assessments, interview with human resources personnel. Not sure what they are looking for as they are continually hiring for the buying assistant position. Frankly, it seems they should look at the competence of their HR staff since it seems they aren't selecting the best candidates since they can't maintain employees.
