      Sales Associate Interview

      Jun 27, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Glasgow, Scotland
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at ALDI (Glasgow, Scotland) in Jun 2018

      Interview

To start; the online application is quite long. Roughly around 40mins. You have a LOT of questions and maths test. The interview process is random. I applied for a position at one store to then receive an email telling that role had been filled. I then, in the same day, received an email inviting to an assessment for another store. I accepted but had to reschedule due to a family issue. I was printed that this would count against my application but I had no choice. I was then given an assessment day for the store I originally applied for? The assessment was scheduled for around 45 mind, which I ended up being. There was three of us and the area manager. There was three things that happened. 1-We were asked to tell a bit about ourselves. Our experiences, our hobbies and our knowledge of the role etc. 2-We were asked to speak individually about what we know of the company. 3-We were given a scenario that we had to find the solution as a team. This scenario was apparently something that happened in another store. You are told the scenario twice and not allowed to ask the interviewer any questions. ***The scenario was; you are in store with three other members of staff. Three are on the tills including your deputy manager and you are the only on the shop floor. Four things happen and you have to prioritise them (there’s supposedly no right or wrong other than safety) 1-Olive oil is smashed all over the floor including the entrance. 2-There is cat litter all over an aisle. 3-A customer enquiries about a high value product, in this case a satnav, which is locked away (you must retrieve the keys) and they are asking all sort is questions. 4-The milk is empty and you need to replenish it with the stick been in the warehouse at the back. We were then advised that we would hear back in three days if you had been successful. If you had been (which I wasn’t; I found out the next day) then you would be in invited back for a one to one. If you were successful at that then you would need to come in for an unpaid work trial.

      Interview

The interview process was a lot for a simple position. I think one interview is enough for this kind of position. I think two interviews waste people’s time. I also had to wait a while in line before I could talk to the manager
