Applied online through the Aldi website. Success at this step gets you invited to a group interview with the area manager and about 7-8 other people. During the group interview, we were asked to briefly talk about ourselves, explain why we wanted to work at aldi, and what we knew about the company. Questions were asked by going around in a circle. With respect to the "why do you want to work at ALDI" question, I answered that I was interested in its substantial promotion opportunities. I was the second person to be asked the question, and all the following applicants incorporated that answer into their answer, which probably reflected pretty well on me. Following the group interview, I was shortlisted for a 1 on 1 interview with the same area manager that conducted the group interview. This interview was fairly relaxed, with a more "free flowing", discussion-like nature rather than a set of questions to be answered. I spoke at length about my retail history, and asked the area manager if he enjoyed his position. After the 1 on 1 interview, I conducted a simple medical examination at a doctor nominated by ALDI. Very simple stuff, lifting, grip strength, standard eyesight tests etc etc. You do not have to be in any ways fit to complete this medical examination. About a week after the final interview, I was offered the position via phonecall from the area manager, which I accepted.
