I applied online. I interviewed at AMC Entertainment (Burbank, CA) in Nov 2015
Interview
Applied to AMC Burbank online, got a call about a week later, there was a phone interview that consisted of questions like why you want the job and asking you to describe yourself. After that they set up a time for you to come in for an interview. Mine was one on one. You get there and they hand you an AMC Stubs Membership Card, give you about five minutes to read through it, this part is important for the interview. Interview itself is general questions, have you ever had a scenario where you had to talk to someone you did not know, what is the most important thing to make a customer loyal. Then comes the role play. You have to pitch the AMC Stubs Membership Card to the manager as if he was a customer, this is the make or break scenario. Be prepared for them to follow up with a comment like "I don't see movies much, why would this be of use to me" after your pitch. After all that I was hired on the spot.

Process is fairly easy. If they're interested in your online application, they do a phone screening. If you do well on that one, they call you in to do an interview for the specific theater. Most of the questions are personality based. They do have you have you pitch AMC Stubs just to get a feel of how you'd present it to customers. Not sure why someone said people get hired on the spot as I never came across a crew member that got hired immediately, even if they were short staffed. Typically it takes a couple days before they give you a response.
