I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ASAPP (New York, NY) in Oct 2022
Interview
The hiring manager was lovely, but after two interviews I was ghosted. I followed up with no response. Companies need to know this is not ok. As candidates, we are expected to maintain the highest levels of professionalism, yet we do not get the same in return.
I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ASAPP (New York, NY) in Aug 2019
Interview
They never showed me how their products look like in my entire interview process or told me what kinda designer or skills they desire. They describe their products over the phone and very brief introduction in the beginning of my interview. Not sure their products are confidential or what... When I went to their office in person, it seems almost the whole design team like 5 people interviewed me. The process lasted one hour. I spent more than 45 mins to go over what I am working on currently and the projects I have done. I thought they want a very practical designer. So I showed them the product I have been working on for many years. But I feel like they want to hire someone more academic.

Interview
The recruiter moves things really fast. They gave me feedback of interviews, the next day or sometimes right after the interview. Mike (the recruiter) takes very good care of candidates. We had many phone calls to settle down every details of the interview and compensation. He is very friendly and thinking for my side. I got a bag of ASAPP goodies on my onsite day =)
The design team's work is great and the product is very promising. Employees here have very strong background, and feel happy about their work. It's a pity that I cannot join because of family reasons.
