      Bakery Colleague Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at ASDA (East Boldon, England) in Oct 2017

      Interview

I applied online and was invited via email to a 'asda magic' session which is their name for a group interview session. I arrived on the day and had my right to work in the UK photo copied before all of the people there were lead to a room. Our seats were assigned to us via name tag in this room. We first got introduced to the manager and the four members of staff also in the room who were watching and taking notes the whole time. The first task was a get to know your partner and relay information back to the group, fairly standard questions such as why do you want to work for asda and interesting fact. We then watched an asda video with facts about the company before being told we would he going onto the shop floor. Each of the members of staff had three people to watch. We were asked to stand at the end of the till and ask if people needed help with packing their bags. Don't be worried if everyone says no, its a task that sees how you interact with the customers. If someone said they did not need help I made general conversation about things they were buying to try and get them talking to me. Things such as 'oh I've never seen that brand of crisps before have you tried them?' etc, cheesy but they are watching to see how friendly you are and if you have good conversational skills. We did this for 10-15 mins and then went back to the interview room. We then got split into two groups of five and were asked to pick a team leader, I suspect extra brownie points for whoever is chosen. The leader picked a mystery item out of a bag and then the team worked together to 'sell' the product. This included looking at its features, target audience, pricing etc. We had to present back to the group. After this it was one on one interviews where they asked how you enjoyed the interview process, I said it was more enjoyable than others I have done. Next was one example of good customer service and one of bad customer service.

      Interview

I received a phone call from ASDA 3 days after submitting my online application. I was told to attend a magic event where we first filled in a form detaliling when we are available for work and other things of that nature. then there was an ice breaker where we had to mention one interesting thing that is interesting about us. we then moved on to a group activity where we had to work as a team to build a tower. after being successful in the magic event, I proceeded to the 1:1 interview which also included working the shelves of the store. overall it was a very fun experience
